Frequently asked questions
Still deciding? Call (972) 788-1820 — a real person who knows the home will answer.
How is Chattington Manor different from a large assisted living facility?
We are a residential care home — a real house in a quiet Far North Dallas neighborhood, not an institutional building. With fewer residents, caregivers get to know each person well, routines stay familiar and care adapts to the person rather than the other way around. Every resident has a healthcare assessment before move-in and a personalized plan that our on-site team adjusts as needs change. Do you provide memory care for advanced dementia?
Yes. We care for residents through every phase of dementia, including advanced stages, using a person-first approach. Consistent caregivers, gentle routines and a calm home setting help residents living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias feel settled. See how our memory care in Dallas works day to day.
What daily activities do caregivers help with?
Caregivers help with bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring and incontinence care — only as much as each resident needs, so they keep as much independence as possible. Meals, housekeeping, laundry and scheduled transportation are included too. The full list is on our senior care services page.
How do you decide the right level of care for my parent?
Before move-in we complete a healthcare assessment with your family to understand needs, preferences and daily routines. We then build a personalized care plan. Because staff are on-site 24 hours a day, we notice changes early and adjust the plan as needed. Call (972) 788-1820 to talk it through.
Is staff on-site overnight?
Yes. Certified caregivers are on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including overnight supervision for safe, restful sleep.
Who manages medications?
Medications are administered and monitored by our care team and coordinated with each resident's physicians and pharmacy, so doses are given on time and changes are communicated to your family.
Do you offer private rooms?
We offer private and semi-private rooms. Availability changes, so please call or schedule a tour to see the rooms that are open now.
What is included, and how much does it cost?
Three home-cooked meals a day, housekeeping, personal laundry, scheduled transportation to medical appointments, 24/7 supervision and the personal care in your loved one's plan. Your rate depends on the room type and the level of care from the assessment. We are happy to walk you through current pricing and availability by phone at (972) 788-1820.
Can family visit?
Family is always welcome — visits are part of daily life here. We are glad to suggest times that fit around meals and rest, and video calls are easy to arrange for relatives who live out of town.
Can we tour before deciding?
Yes. Tours are available 7 days a week, in person or by video call. You will meet caregivers, see the rooms and shared spaces, and get answers to your questions. Use our assisted living tour checklist to prepare.
How does move-in work?
There are three steps: a tour, a care assessment that shapes your loved one's personalized plan, and a gentle move-in day where we help them settle in. Most families tell us the hardest part is deciding — we will help with the rest.
Do you provide transportation to appointments?
Yes. Scheduled transportation to and from medical appointments is included, so families don't have to take time off work for every check-up.
Where is Chattington Manor located?
We are at 7508 Chattington Dr, Dallas, TX 75248, in Far North Dallas — minutes from Richardson, Addison and Plano and close to shopping, dining and medical centers. See assisted living near Richardson and North Dallas for directions.
What is the difference between assisted living and memory care?
Assisted living supports older adults who need help with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing and medications. Memory care adds a calmer environment, structured routines and caregivers who understand dementia-related changes in behavior, communication and safety. Many families start with assisted living and add memory support as needs grow.
Does Medicare pay for assisted living?
Generally, no. Medicare does not cover long-term personal care or room and board in assisted living. Families most often use private savings, long-term care insurance or veterans' benefits such as VA Aid and Attendance. Our guide to paying for assisted living in Texas explains each option.
How do I check an assisted living home's license in Texas?
Assisted living facilities in Texas are licensed by the Texas Health and Human Services Commission. You can learn how licensing works on the HHSC assisted living facilities page, and we are happy to answer licensing questions during your tour.
