Why a home setting helps people living with dementia
For someone living with Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, a large, busy building can be overwhelming: unfamiliar hallways, constant noise, new faces at every shift change. Chattington Manor offers the opposite. Our memory care in Dallas takes place in a real house, with a small group of residents and a consistent team of caregivers.
Familiar spaces are easier to navigate. Consistent caregivers learn each resident’s history, cues and comforts. Gentle daily routines — meals at the same table, music in the afternoon, a quiet wind-down each evening — help residents feel settled and secure. The result is often less agitation, better sleep and more good moments in each day.
We provide specialized dementia care through every phase, including advanced stages, using an evidence-based, person-first approach. Care is shaped around who your loved one is, not just their diagnosis.
How we care for residents with memory loss
Consistent caregivers
The same small team every day, so trust builds and changes in mood or health are noticed early.
Predictable routines
A steady rhythm of meals, activity and rest that reduces confusion and late-day restlessness.
Person-first approach
We learn life stories, preferences and triggers, and use calm redirection rather than confrontation.
24/7 supervision
Staff on-site around the clock, including overnight, for residents who wake or wander at night.
Medication management
Medications given on time and monitored, with changes coordinated with physicians and family.
Hands-on personal care
Patient help with bathing, dressing, eating, toileting and transfers as abilities change.
Care that adapts through every stage
Early stage. Residents often need reminders, medication support and structure more than hands-on help. We encourage independence, hobbies and conversation.
Middle stage. Daily tasks become harder and behavior can change. Caregivers step in with more help at mealtimes and with personal care, while keeping routines steady.
Advanced stage. Residents may need full support with eating, mobility and comfort. We continue caring for them at home, working alongside their physicians and, when the time comes, hospice providers — so your loved one doesn’t have to move again.

Support for families, too
Choosing memory care is one of the hardest decisions a family makes. We keep you informed, welcome your visits and help you stay part of your loved one’s everyday life — birthdays, Sunday lunches and quiet afternoons included.
For caregiver education and support groups, the Alzheimer’s Association Dallas & Northeast Texas Chapter (opens in a new tab) runs a free 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900.

How do you decide the right level of care for my parent?
Before move-in we complete a healthcare assessment with your family to understand needs, preferences and daily routines. We then build a personalized care plan. Because staff are on-site 24 hours a day, we notice changes early and adjust the plan as needed. Call (972) 788-1820 to talk it through.
Is staff on-site overnight?
Yes. Certified caregivers are on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including overnight supervision for safe, restful sleep.
Can family visit?
Family is always welcome — visits are part of daily life here. We are glad to suggest times that fit around meals and rest, and video calls are easy to arrange for relatives who live out of town.
What is the difference between assisted living and memory care?
Assisted living supports older adults who need help with daily tasks such as bathing, dressing and medications. Memory care adds a calmer environment, structured routines and caregivers who understand dementia-related changes in behavior, communication and safety. Many families start with assisted living and add memory support as needs grow.
